Earlier this year Glimmerglass, working with the
Entrepreneurs Foundation, agreed to take on a "Thistle Extraction" project at the Hayward
Shoreline Interpretive Center. The company assigned teams and established
rewards for the most productive group of thistle-extractors. The teams
brought their gardening tools, set innovative "extraction" strategies
and benefited from excellent weather. All-in-all, thousands of non-native
thistles were removed and good fun was had by all - a very productive
day. In the end, everyone learned more about the Bay as well as making
a tremendous contribution to the Wetlands.
As part of this new partnership, Glimmerglass has committed to return
quarterly to lend it's talents to future projects at HSIC. Mark Housley,
CEO of Glimmerglass, says of this new partnership, "Silicon Valley
is all about smart, motivated people working together as a team to achieve
and accomplish ambitious goals. Working with EF and the HSIC has made
it possible to take our talents and give something tangible back to the
community, improving our effectiveness as a team, and have fun doing it!"
