GLIMMERGLASS ANNOUNCES NEW MULTI-SWITCH CONSOLE SOFTWARE
Hayward, CA – April 30, 2008 – Glimmerglass, leading provider of Intelligent Optical Switches, today announced a new Glimmerglass Console, a server-based software product that enables a large number of photonic cross-connects to be managed from a single location, remotely, over the web. Addressing telecom requirements, the new server-based Glimmerglass Console offers centralized management for complex, multi-switch environments, effectively simplifying the management of supporting remote or “lights out” operations. The Glimmerglass Console has already been deployed in a major telecom carrier network. “The cost and operational benefits of remote monitoring and management of light streams are clear. In response to our customers’ demand for these efficiencies, we developed a carrier-class product capable of supporting large networks,” said Robert Lundy, CEO and president of Glimmerglass. “This release is an important milestone in carriers’ moves to deploy Intelligent Optical Switches.” Using the Console, an administrator receives aggregated alarm information and can control user privileges network-wide. In addition, the Console enables the partitioning of a single switch into separate operational domains with its Virtual Private Switch feature. Working in conjunction with the Glimmerglass ClickFlow GUI interface, the Glimmerglass Console further provides administrators with the ability to monitor traffic and optical performance throughout a network, detect and isolate failed connections, and configure fail-over paths to route around broken fibers or problematic line interface electronics. ###
