Glimmerglass understands that building and operating an environment-friendly green network is important to our customers worldwide.  Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Systems have always been energy efficient, which minimizes carbon emissions and electricity bills.

Energy Efficiency
A typical Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical System can support up to 192 optical ports with maximum power consumption of 85 Watts in a full configuration. This results in over 22 Gbps/W when providing 10 Gbps single wavelength services on each port.  This energy efficiency number improves as data rates increase due to continued low energy use and optical data rate transparency.  For example, in 40 Gbps DWDM applications, energy efficiency increases to over 3.6 Tbps/W.

Glimmerglass Carbon Offset Program
To celebrate Earth Day, and to further demonstrate confidence in the superior energy efficiency of its products, Glimmerglass offers a Carbon Offset program which will fund carbon offsets to neutralize ten years of electrical usage for any of its Intelligent Optical Systems purchased between April 22nd and December 31st of 2009.
