Sr Software Engineer -

Glimmerglass Networks is actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design and implement the front end Web interfaces for our EMS/NMS tools and to enhance the Web interface for our Intelligent Optical Switches.  The EMS/NMS enables users to easily configure, visualize, and troubleshoot their network of optical switches.  The Switch Interface provides finer configuration and control on a per-switch basis.

Summary of Duties/Responsibilities:

The position will require work on the web interfaces as well as some interaction with the ?back-end? code for each system as part of a small team of engineers. Ideally, but not necessarily, the candidate would be able to work on both front and back end portions.


Education & Experience:


AJAX (JavaScript/XML/HTML)

• BS/MS and 5+ years of software engineering experience is required.

• Experience in the development of carrier-class EMS/NMS is required.

• Expertise in HTML, Javascript, XML generation and parsing as well as CSS knowledge is required. Experience in AJAX programming is ideal.

• Detailed knowledge of HTTP protocols is required.

• Proficiency in C++ is required. Proficiency in Java is a definite plus.

• Experience in socket-level programming and general TCP/IP knowledge is required.

• Multi-browser knowledge (i.e., IE, Firefox, Konqueror, Safari) is required.

• Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms is required.

• Knowledge of at least one scripting language (perl, python, tcl, sh or other) is required.

• Knowledge of Source Code Control systems (e.g., CVS or Subversion) and build tools (i.e., make) is required.

• Knowledge of Unix/Linux-based tools (e.g., gcc/gdb) is required.

• Excellent oral and written communications skills is required.

• Must work well in a small team.

• Experience with software internationalization and localization is desirable.

• Expertise in the following, as we are porting our back-end from that environment, is highly desirable:

  • Expertise in Java and J2EE web-based technologies.
  • Experience with Spring framework and Java-based front-end technologies such as Wicket.
  • JDBC/ODBC and SQL knowledge is a definite plus.

• Experience in deployment of Web Services in either Java Application Servers (e.g., Apache/Tomcat) or direct back-end applications, (e.g., CGI, mod_perl, mod_php) is highly desirable.

• Experience in TL1, CORBA is desirable. SNMP experience will be considered in lieu of the previous two.
